Overcoming Age-Related Pressures: You Are Not Alone

Aimee Song, fashion blogger of Song of Style, wears a Self Portrait Top with GRLFRND jeans as she talks about SKII skincare. From the moment we’re born, certain ages have milestones tied to them. Maybe at one we’re walking, two we’re talking, sixteen we’re driving (or crashing our parent’s car…). Society has programmed us like this. But maybe age shouldn’t matter, we’re all on our own timelines. There shouldn’t be a certain age when you’re need to get married or have kids. You will hit milestones in life when you’re supposed to. Instead of obsessed about what others around you are doing, listen to that voice inside you and follow what makes you happy. My grandma used to ask me about my age and when I would have a baby. Simple pressures like this made me realize I just need to focus on my own timeline and that age shouldn’t be used as a measurement society to determine what I should be doing.I’m super excited to be apart of skincare brand SK-II’s #INeverExpire discussion with strong, career-savvy women that I admire. Sophia Amoruso, Elaine Welteroth, and Lauren Abedini all have interesting backgrounds and had unique perspectives on the topic of age-related pressure. We all have different experiences, but what we all have in common is that we are women that don’t let social norms and predetermined timelines define us. I had such a great time and left the discussion feeling inspired by such strong female figures. I would love to continue the conversation with you guys that SK-II has started.
