I Designed Three New Bracelets that Empower Women for ME to WE

Song of Style

At the end of last year, I went on a trip to Kenya with ME to WE – a social enterprise that pays artisans in Kenya a fair wage for their work, and sells their wares worldwide. I am really excited to announce that I’ve collaborated with ME to WE and designed three new Rafiki Bracelets to create the Journey collection. The Journey Collection includes three pieces: the Journey Bracelet, the Two-Wrap Rafiki Bracelet, and the Connection Bracelet. It took a while for me to come up with my own design because I wanted something colorful yet suitable to be worn all year. The bracelets are also easily paired with gold jewelry. You can shop the collection in-store and online at PacSun and ME to WE. The “mamas” in Kenya handmake these bracelets and are given a fair wage for their work. By purchasing these bracelets, you are helping the mamas to earn an income, build their savings and lead change for her family and community. My goal is to sell 5,000 bracelets, which will help 2,500 women in developing communities gain access to the tools they need to build a brighter future. When I was in Kenya, I visited the mama’s home and visited the schools that ME to WE have built. I was deeply moved and inspired by the women who are striving to build a better future for their family’s. Everyday, they wake up early to go to the empowerment center to take business and leadership workshops to gain new skills. They were so determined to learn and have their voices heard.
